The student
- individually determines the artistic path he wishes to follow.
The guidance and advice of the teachers is mainly focused on discussing the underlying thought processes and offering suitable plastic and responsible solutions.
- by composing a personal folder with drawings, sketches and other visual material, he (she) puts his drive and motivation within his artistic research.
At the end of the Bachelor program the student puts together a portfolio of high-quality reproductions of paintings and a concise accompanying text. Every year, several contemporary artists are invited as a guest lecturer. They discuss from their own understanding and experience the student's work. At the beginning of the seminary the lecturer will give an introductory lecture about his own artistic work and specific approach. The confrontation with a "foreigner", sometimes surprising view on the nature and quality of the work is somehow refreshing. A thorough introduction to the profession is encouraged in the form of joint visits to galleries for contemporary art, various Museums and temporary exhibitions in Belgium. (Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Liege, Charleroi). Through the Cross Over Workshop students can optionally add a second discipline.
