Prerequisites

Educational organisation (text)

The students will learn about the evolution of the work of some contemporary visual artists. They will also be invited to speak about the evolution of their own work and to relate this to general insights discussed in class. They can do this in their studio. If possible, two young artists will be invited to speak about their work.

Prerequisite competencies (text)

No specific requirements.

Learning objectives (text)

The student understands that often the oeuvre of an artist is not always the result of a conceptual strategy, but as the result of a series of ad hoc decisions springing from one another and being related to eachother through the used materials and techniques and through the personality of the artist (current environment, social background, upbringing, family situation, era, education, knowledge, experience, ability). The student can discuss dozens of examples in detail and enrich them with a personal point of view. The student can apply the insights on his or her own oeuvre.
