Evaluation (text)

All Dutch-speaking EPS students produce a paper in which they reflect on the Studium Generale lectures. We expect the following of this paper:

  • +- 2500 words
  • Language: English (when reflecting on English and Dutch spoken lectures) Nederlands (wanneer jullie reflecteren over Nederlandstalige lezingen). Een volledig Engelstalige paper is eveneens toegestaan, een uitsluitend Nederlandstalige paper evenwel niet.
  • The paper is not merely an abstract, but a reflection that reflects the views of the student on the topics that were discussed substantiated by relevant literature collected from libraries, Internet and other media. This reflection is a personal, original text in which quotes and sources are listed according to the required protocol. Cheating and plagiarism are penalized with a zero.
  • Deadline: Tuesday, May 15 2019 (please upload on Digitap – Course Background of Antwerp – Upload paper Studium Generale).
  • Criteria for evaluation:
    • Analysis and personal / critical reflection on a central question.
    • Relevant and correct use of resources.
    • Clear structure and layout.
    • Correct and active use of language and smooth formulation.

All non-Duch-speaking EPS students produce a paper in which they reflect on these Studium Generale lectures. We expect the following of this paper:

  • +- 1500 words
    • Correct and active use of language and smooth formulation

Evaluation is mainly linked to the process (70%): attendance at all activities is therefore mandatory. 30% of the evaluation is based on the quality of your Studium Generale paper. Students must pass both parts in order to pass for the cluster ‘Background of Antwerp, Flanders and Belgium’. If a student doesn’t pass one or both parts, the lowest grade will become the grade for the whole cluster.

If the student cannot attend one of the activities, the teacher will be informed in advance by email. In case this happens more than once during this semester, the student will have to provide the course coordinator with (a) medical certificate(s) in order to still be able to pass for the 70% of process evaluation.

If a student doesn’t pass for the cluster ‘Background of Antwerp, Flanders and Belgium’, a 2nd examination period can be offered in which the student will be asked to write a reflection paper of +- 4000 words (100%). Therefor the student will contact the course coordinator before Friday, June 20 2019 by email and ask him to organize a 2nd evaluation period. The course coordinator will provide the student with a relevant topic for the paper. The student will upload the paper of +- 4000 words on Digitap. Deadline: August 31 2019.
