Course content

Although the internet plays a major role in people’s media and news consumption, it is still a young medium in full development.
Internet news reaches us not only via online editions of traditional publications, but also via blogs, facebook, twitter and other social media. The journalist-to-be is confronted with a world in which not only professional journalists but also the public itself create the news.
A number of journalistic competences from traditional journalism courses can be easily applied in web journalism, but next to that there are also specific internet competences and formats.
In this course we’ll be looking for these competences, while reflecting the change in the media landscape, the changing role of the journalist and the changes in the relationship between the journalists and their audience.
