Learning outcomes (text)

- Students acquire insight into the making of and the presentation of a theatre production. They are able to discuss on productions they see and can formulate their proper opinion. Special attention is demanded on the direction, style of acting, and the relationship between set and costume design on the concept of the production as a whole.

BA3 - The student knows about and understands the social, cultural, artistic, historical and international context of the visual arts and artistic praxis, and continues to develop this knowledge and understanding.
"The student has gained insight into the dramatic structures of theater performances and can develop a deeper analysis of characters, action, costumes, decor, lighting, grime, etc. "
BA4 - The student develops and sharpens his/her critical and investigative attitude towards designs and/or realizations that arise from visual experiments and research, emotion and intuition.
The student is able to critically assess a theater performance.
BA5 - When developing his/her personal visual language the students starts from a searching and reflective attitude when developing one's own visual language.
The student is able to discuss a attended theater performance in a sensible way, and to formulate his/her own opinion concerning specifically the principles of directing, the style of playing, and the way in which scenography and costume design contribute to the realization of a total concept.

Course content

The theatre and dance productions that are visited, discussed and analysed, change every year. There is special attention for the relationship between the design and the contents of the productions visited. The style of playing, set and costume design, direction and concept of the production, are taken into account.
