Learning outcomes (text)

The student
- has insight into the assignment, temporary or permanent intervention in the public space and can shape this task.
- can analyze a location, create a design, draw out a private (business) plan, make a model/maquette, a dossier and a quote, explain and defend the dossier and may subsequently realize the design.
- knows the importance of a sketch and a drawing as a recording medium of a place and as a step towards a design, a model and implementation.
- can make a 3-dimensional object drawing on paper, assess/render correctly the proportions, suggest the volume and depth
- examined various graphic/visual techniques: from simple drawing and painting techniques to computer technology and can therefore bring its projects in various ways in a 2-dimensional image

Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student has studied various imaging techniques, ranging from simple drawing and painting techniques to computer techniques, and can process his projects in various ways into a 2-dimensional image.

The student can draw a perceived 3-dimensional subject on paper, estimate ratios correctly, suggest volume and depth, and knows what a good layout looks like.
BA6 - The student understands the characteristics of his/her personal designs and/or realizations and is able to communicate about this in an appropriate manner.
The student can explain and defend a dossier he made up as a proposal for a project.
BA7 - The student is able to organize his/her artistic project in consultation with others.
The student can analyze a location, make a design, draw up a (work) schedule, and convert the assignment into a scale model and dossier.
The student can realize a proposed design in practice.
The student can develop and promote his own exhibition.

Course content

Atelier:
Make a realizable design for a assignment in the public space: content, formal, considering predefined constraints (time, budget and sustainability)
Realize individual and / or group projects.
Give a free project shape.

Each task is an exercise in the literal sense of the word. In an assignment the student develops his/her own research in the content of the subject and its specific location (individually or in group). From this research his/her personal vision is developed regard the substantive and spatial context.
The vision is shaped into a work of art.
This practice is also shaping a study of material and technique.
The competency of this procedure is making progress in the quality of the artwork as a finished product, executed within its given time limit.
