To have passed the practical Printmaking Studio course of the second Bachelor or to have gained a equivalent level in another School of Art.

Learning outcomes (text)

The student specializes in one of the main Printmaking skills (Relief printing, Lithography, Intaglio). In the first semester he's expected to deepen his skill and to obtain more personal and artistic research in his chosen field. He has to experiment to be able to create his personalized language. He possesses a strong technical base and understand the principles of the chosen skill. He possesses a contemporary point of view on Printed Art en can work within this context. He's able to do research in order to obtain this level off image creation. He's able to produce Print making art autonomously. During the second semester the student is able to design and create an artists book of art-portfolio which, in concept keeps a relation with his own artwork. He's able to produce this portfolio in an edition. He's able to concretize this portfolio, in which presentation, aesthetics, typography, content, concept and coherence are joined in a professional but individual realization. He's able to profile himself to the society in an artistic and communicative way. The student is able to use the necessary skills to finalize this portfolio.

Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student can apply all acquired knowledge, insights and skills in the finalization an art edition.
The student can make and manipulate a composition of images and is flexible within this given.
The student can realize an art edition, in which presentation, aesthetics, typography, and content are integrated in a professional, individual manner and a coherent total project is obtained.
The student can independently produce graph.
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student is specialized in one of the main printing techniques.
The student has a solid technical foundation and knows the principles of the techniques.
The student can create an art edition.
The student can design a folder that is conceptually linked to his own artistic work and realize this design in practice.
BA3 - The student knows about and understands the social, cultural, artistic, historical and international context of the visual arts and artistic praxis, and continues to develop this knowledge and understanding.
The student has a contemporary vision of graphic art and can function within it.
BA4 - The student develops and sharpens his/her critical and investigative attitude towards designs and/or realizations that arise from visual experiments and research, emotion and intuition.
The student experiments with graphic techniques in order to create a personal visual language.
The student can carry out (artistic) research.
BA5 - When developing his/her personal visual language the students starts from a searching and reflective attitude when developing one's own visual language.
The student can perform artistic research into the use of the technique in and integrate this into the devolopment of his own visual language.
BA6 - The student understands the characteristics of his/her personal designs and/or realizations and is able to communicate about this in an appropriate manner.
The student can profile himself artistically in the professional field and communicate about his artistic work with third parties.

Course content

During the first semester the student is guided in his research to obtain his individual trajectory within the chosen field of study. The student is stimulated to come to a unity in his image creation. At the end of the semester, the student has a clear view on the concept of the Portfolio (artists book) which he's going to make during the second semester. At the mid year evaluation this concept is presented. During the second period of time, this project has to be realized.
