The student

  •    acquires the technical insight in physical,chemical and technical properties of materials;
  •    has the skills to use some tools and machines;
  •    develops an explorative attitude to develop research skills in order to collect technical and material information (libraries, internet);
  •    starts to develop technical files to support the realization of his own work.

The student knows the theory regarding the physical, chemical and technical properties of materials.
The student can use tools and machines in a proper way.
BA4 - The student develops and sharpens his/her critical and investigative attitude towards designs and/or realizations that arise from visual experiments and research, emotion and intuition.
The student conducts research into (material) technical properties of materials (libraries, internet, ...).
BA7 - The student is able to organize his/her artistic project in consultation with others.
The student can draw up technical sheets regarding the development / construction and production of own work.

Course content

Contents overview: basic techniques, soldering and installation, organizing and maintaining the working area, safety instructions, copper, silver, zinc, nickel and their alloys, properties and use of acids, bases and salts in the workshop, manufacturing of metals, deforming techniques and tools.

The students make their own technical files to support the working proces.
