Short description

Students learn how to make use of English correspondence in an effective way.

They are capable of interpreting requests and of answering them appropriately.

They can deal with customer complaints and reply to them in a constructive way.

They learn to present themselves to a future employer and they know how to communicate in a fluent way in English.

Negotiating strategies and fluent telephoning will become familiar to the student.

Furthermore, students will be taught how to receive and how to give good feedback.

Course content

-advanced vocabulary for English Correspondence, common idioms and expressions
-relevant writing techniques in letters and emails (opening sentences, referral sentences, gratitude sentences, complimentary clauses, ...)
-writing common business letters and emails (enquiry, reply to an enquiry, letter of complaint, reply to letter of complaint, writing a report)
-conducting a meeting and taking minutes
-negotiating and negotiating strategies
-giving and receiving feedback
-job interview skills in writing (CV and cover letter)
-cultural awareness in business
-making fluent telephone conversations: skills in practice
