Short description

This course will help students to feel more comfortable using a camera, work in a professional photo studio and fully explore its creative possibilities. This course gives you all the tools to gather the technical knowledge design students need.

The goal of this elective is to help students reach their full potential and provide them with excellent results. Not only do we teach the technical essentials of photography, we also learn students how to use photography in design assignments.

Subjects we look into are focusing, lenses & focal length, metering, ISO, apertures, depth of field, shutter speeds, balancing exposure manually, white balance, controlling movement, composition, understanding light, using flash photography in a studio environment, reportage and post production.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Learning outcomes (list)

makes the right choice from the range of lenses
understands the photographic approach using flash lights and camera in studio
can display and abstract, by understanding the nature and arrangement of the light source, several aspects of an object
has an insight into the photographic language, in particular the relationship between the content, design and technology
acquires insight into the perception of human, object and space
is able to realize a commercial photographic media-expression in function of the technical feasibility
correctly uses light sources
applies the knowledge of the English language in a learning context, both oral and written
