(to be taken together with Biochemistry II OR previously registered for Biochemistry II) AND (having passed, or having a tolerated mark for Bio-organic chemistry) AND (having passed, or having a tolerated mark for Biochemistry 1).

Learning outcomes (list)

Lab engineer - Job analysis and Planning Lab activities
choses the correct molecular diagnostic technique in a given situation based on the principle of the technique.
describes the construction, structure, organisation and function of genetic material of the different kinds of mutations.
explains the different steps in the replication, transcription and translation process.
illustrates the different levels on which eukaryote gene expression is regulated with examples and the other way around.
discusses the basic principles of genetics using the right scientific terminology.
Lab engineer - Execution of laboratory activities
applies the principles of the (population) genetics in a simple situation.
Lab engineer - Processing and Interpretation
interprets simple data of a coupling analysis, including LOD score analysis.
interprets results and draws expected results of a molecular diagnosis (for example electrophoresis patterns, DNA-profiles,...)
