Learning outcomes (list)

The student is able to analyse financial information
The student is familiar with the following concepts: yield, profitability, liquidity and solvency (Basle I, II, III) with respect to banks
The student understands the different funding sources
The student is aware of the different loan categories and interprets amortisation tables
The student has an understanding of the different phases of risk management in the insurance context
The student can settle insurance claims
The student is able to construct an insurance package for an average familty
The student understands the concepts of policyholder, insurer, insured and beneficiary in the context of an insurance policy
The student is familiar with insurance related documents and concepts such as: addendum, maturity date notice, franchise and waiting period (aka elimination period).
The student masters principles of business economics and law
The student is able to describe the different rservices of a credit institution.
The student is able to describe the main characteristics of current banking
The student elaborates on the economic and social importance of insurances
The student is familiar with the distribution channels in the insurance business
The student is familar with the following concepts: profitability, liquidity, solvency (Sovency I and II) in the insurance context
The student distinguishes the difference between the 'Terms and conditions' and the 'Special conditions'
The student is knowledgeable with respect to prevailing legislation and regulation
The student is familiar with the main legal regulations applicable to the Belgian banking system, in particular with respect to the supervision by NBB (national bank) and FSMA (market regulator)
