Prerequisites

(having passed, or having a tolerated mark for Logistics AND having passed, or having a tolerated mark for Logistics) AND having passed, or having a tolerated mark for English.

Short description

The course Transport Economics is compulsory for the students Logistics and optional for the accountancy and finance and the international students.

The course is given in English and uses an English written textbook.

It is a semester course of 3 – 4 hours per week given in two courses weekly.

It gives a macro- meso- and micro economic overview of the aspects of transport and the influences it has on society as a whole and companies in particular.

The first part describes the situation In Europe and the influences of European policy.

The second part focuses on the management perspective and brings cost accounting, planning, investment policies, price setting and some basic quantitative methods that should interest managers of transport companies of all modes of transport.

The third part is concerned with the macroeconomic dimensions, deregulation, external costs, market shape and forecasting.

The fourth and last part deals with policy and infrastructure investments.
