Short description

Mediation aims at how to empower cliënts to solve their own conflicts in a proper way. Behalf of a theoretical approach in which the judicial mediation principles are explained in a supranational context, it also offers a methodological frame. The methodological approach consists of three subjets: a critical discussion of the fundamental principles of mediation, a comparison between some mediation models and 'good practices' and last but not least the implementation of the 'common learning' concept by way of rolgames and groups work with support of mediation experts.

You present a relevant insight with regard to a mediation practice.

Course content

Mediation is a methode that is used in different supranational contexts such as social, judicial and deontological. This course consists of theoretical colleges, particle trainings of the mediation skills, intensive contact with professionals in mediation. There are also possibilities to work on a small project are research offered through an organization specialized in mediation. During this course the aims and basic principles of mediation will be discussed and trained. Some guest speakers will explain the strengths and treats of their jobs. Furthermore students will work in a group during three months on a specific mediation topic in close contact with practitioners in the Antwerp region.
