The student pays attention to historical, social, economic, religious and political contexts and thier (possible) implications for the design of jewelry.

Course content

An introduction in time (past and present) and space (different cultures and continents) of jewellery and adornment.
What are the reasons to manufacture, wear and gift jewellery:
- symbolism and other motives
- technical evolution of jewellery production
- historical, political, religious and cultural context and influence.
