The student knows the European and non-European history of jewelry.

Course content

A further exploration in time (past and present) and space (different cultures and continents) of jewellery and adornment.
What are the reasons to manufacture, wear and gift jewellery:
- symbolism and other motives
- technical evolution of jewellery production
- historical, political, religious and cultural context and influence.
