Course content

- In BA1 and BA2 the student acquires knowledge about the construction and anatomical construction of a life-size figure in clay. This basis can now be used by the student to achieve a freer and more personal study. On the basis of design sketches in clay and on paper, the student arrives at personal designs. The acquired insights in traditional and contemporary sculpture make it possible to make personal choices in form, content and texture.

- By building up and realising 2 personal life-size figure studies and some preliminary studies the student learns to make progress. After the simple moulage exercises in BA2 and BA3 on standard shapes, the student has now had the opportunity to mould more complex shapes in various materials. Through the more complex postures of the life-sized figures and the possibility to solve them more freely and personally, the student is stimulated to explore options and solutions for construction and interpretation.

- The student gradually makes several small figure studies in clay. By means of a constructive construction and anatomical research the student comes to a result.

- The student makes a moulage in plaster of his own sculpted hand or foot, his own sculpted portrait and/or his own sculpted torso.

- The student gradually makes several small figure studies in clay. By means of a constructive construction and anatomical research the student comes to a result.

- Through drawing exercises, anatomy lessons and observations of the models and the human skeleton, the student gets to know the human anatomy. By means of constructive modelling exercises in which they work from the inside out, they learn to translate their knowledge into 3D.

- Through the lessons in art history and specific art history the student gets to know the art landscape. During the various practical lessons, visual material and text about both contemporary and historical sculptors are continuously presented and discussed. In addition, the student is stimulated to look for visual and theoretical material about historical and contemporary sculptors.
