Learning outcomes (list)

Learning skills: talent oriented differentiation
The student executes a group project demonstrating that he / she can apply the principles of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) in an elementary school.

Course content

International students will participate in a unique one week intensive program on creative and innovative teaching. The focus will be on S.T.E.A.M. education (which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) in pre-primary, primary and secondary education.

S.T.E.A.M. education emphasizes the role of creativity and innovation in teaching and learning. It also underlines the need to explore methods for making classrooms more energetic and engaging places of learning and experiencing.

  • Description: During this international week you will travel for 2 days to HZ University of Applied Sciences in Vlissingen (the Netherlands) where you will follow workshops and do a school visit (possible extra cost for public transport of about 5 EUR).

    You can join the bus from AP to Vlissingen and back on Tuesday November 17th and Wednesday November 18th: those 4 bus rides will cost approximately 40 EUR.
    Or you can choose to sleep in Vlissingen on Tuesday night, and join the bus only on Tuesday November 17th in the morning and back to Antwerp on Wednesday November 18th in the evening: those 2 bus rides will cost approximately 15 EUR. If you choose this option, you will have to book a room in Vlissingen yourself, with of course an additional cost depending on your choice (a hotel room is much more expensive than a shared room via Air BNB).

    On Thurday November 19th and Friday November 20th you will follow workshops and do a school visit in Antwerp (AP campus Spoor Noord Noorderplaats).
