Learning outcomes (list)

1.1 The student independently broadens and explores repertoire related to his or her discipline.
The student puts together an exam programme of 30 minutes completely independently and provides ensemble members him- or herself.
The student works in a team (with other artistic disciplines) on the creation of his or her own artistic concept.
The student establishes interaction with other musicians during the rehearsal and performance.
4.1 The student has extensive knowledge of the broader cultural and (musical) historical context and can use this in his or her artistic practice.
The student can make a practical application of knowledge from historical sources and treatises in order to create an historically informed performance.

Course content

* Mastery of basso continuo techniques (the function of basso continuo, chord progressions and positions, reading figures, recognition of keys, playing from facsimiles etc)
* Practical study of musical styles of the entire repertoire
* Practical implementation of the knowledge from historical sources and treatises in order to achieve an historically informed performance. This shapes the student into an independent musician.
* Interaction with other musicians

Study material (text): Mandatory

Harpsichord lessons take place in the lovely Vleeshuis museum on the magnificent original harpsichord of Ioannes Daniel Dulcken from 1747. In addition, the Conservatoire owns two further fine harpsichords: one by Michael Johnson (after Goermans) and one by Jan Boon (after an anonymous Italian instrument from around 1750).
