Learning outcomes (list)

The student is aware of the financial, commercial and legal aspects of international professional practice and can apply this in the own artistic practice
The student builds up practical experience by organising his or her own event in a group.
The student knows the various legal regulations which confront the performing artist at the start of his or her career, can explain these, and can suggest the major thrust of the Belgian social legislation.
The student develops funadmental marketing and management skills and can apply these for the enhancement of his or her own projects and career.
The student acquires understanding of the (market) value of his of her art via the basic strategies of creative entrepreneurship.

Course content

Arts Entrepreneurship deals with the themes which confront a performing artist at the start of his or her career in the professional field. The lessons provide a theoretical foundation which subsequently, using real-life cases, are translated into performance practice. The themes which are offered are:
Status of the artist (social and employment law)
The formation of organisations
Contracts
Copyright
Tax
