Course content

Portfolio reflection provides students with tools to embrace, research and analyse their own artistic identity in relation to the dance field. Main activities are reading, discussing and writing. Texts, partly from the literature list of the ‘Dance Theory and Analysis’ course by Timmy De Laet (UA) are read and discussed together; texts related to the dance field and touching upon societal problems. Students are prompted to contextualize their artistic practice by placing it in this network of references. With a series of (writing) tasks, the students are asked to relate their own artistic practice to the propositions in the (text) material. They are stimulated to bring some of their artistic topics and themes into clear focus, as to be able to embark on a more in depth research, both in their artistic practice as in their artistic research.
