Prerequisite competencies (text)

The student is able to express concepts spatially in various materials and techniques in a personal way. He/she is familiar with a step-by-step design process. Design sketches, models, and studies of all kinds are part of this process. He/she is sensitive to elements from the reality surrounding him/her that have an artistic usefulness for him/her. The student is able to communicate his/her work to teachers and fellow students and can dissect and evaluate his/her work.

Through artistic research and reflection in the form of sketches, notes, models, literature but also through a deepening and analysis of source material, the student can arrive at his/her own artistic concept in the form of a personal question.

The student can carry out a thorough investigation into the various aspects of the medium of sculpture. Presentation, possibilities, material research and construction possibilities, color and form are part of this.

The student can research relevant references to frame their own artistic work.

The student can be critical of their own artistic work.

The student can enter into discussion with his/her teachers and fellow students about the content and form of his/her artistic project.

Learning outcomes (list)

BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student gains insight into historical and current visual / audiovisual art, is able to follow and interpret the evolutions within the artistic field, and takes the initiative to position himself within an artistic and intellectual framework.
BA3 - The student knows about and understands the social, cultural, artistic, historical and international context of the visual arts and artistic praxis, and continues to develop this knowledge and understanding.
The student is able to recognise the societal impact of the production process and justify it.
BA4 - The student develops and sharpens his/her critical and investigative attitude towards designs and/or realizations that arise from visual experiments and research, emotion and intuition.
In his artistic research, the student starts from a personal question and perspective, both in terms of theme and visual language, and in terms of concrete plastic processing.
BA5 - When developing his/her personal visual language the students starts from a searching and reflective attitude when developing one's own visual language.
The student experiments with different materials.
The student studies the different possibilities with regard to the presentation of his plastic work.
The student can analyze and evaluate his work, and make connections between his individual works.
BA6 - The student understands the characteristics of his/her personal designs and/or realizations and is able to communicate about this in an appropriate manner.

Course content

The student independently searches for their own artistic attitude and visual language with attention to material choice, material use, scale and the status of the materialized work.

The student is asked to place the work in various contexts: the context of a group exhibition with fellow students, the context of a studio visit in which the student receives fellow students in the studio, and the context of multiple evaluations.

During multiple evaluations and in the context of classroom studio visits, the student is asked to express him/herself in his/her own words. As well as to critically approach and position the work of others.
