Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student masters the basic practical skills.
The student knows the different techniques (which were offered through the course or discovered by means of personal research) that offer the possibility of creating three-dimensional form.
The student can use his acquired material and technical knowledge to create a costume and/or object.
The student has acquired pattern knowledge of skirt and dress and lis able tot translate this knowledge into a creative result.
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student can make a toile and adjust it to size.
The student can read and draw a pattern at beginners level.
The student has learned to use volumes.
The student has gained insight into the conversion of a 2D to a 3D image by means of already acquired basic knowledge and additional independent research.
BA5 - When developing his/her personal visual language the students starts from a searching and reflective attitude when developing one's own visual language.
The student experiments with different materials.
The student has demonstrated openness and willingness to take risks and push their (save) boundaries towards new grounds / insights.
BA7 - The student is able to organize his/her artistic project in consultation with others.
The student can look up, read and interpret existing patterns, partly independently, partly under supervision.

Course content

Learning converting two-dimensional data into three-dimensional data (design - pattern in the broad sense of the word - model) learning to "read" patterns, analyzing problems and designing solutions.

experimenting with various materials and techniques to create their own design, partly through its own research and partly through workshops offered.Under supervision, the student explores a wide range of basic techniques and materials. 

A basic knowledge of patronage is taught as well as how to make a simple toile and how to adapt it.

The human body is always taken as the starting point.
Learning to deal with volume, proportions and developing 3-dimensional insight with the aim of being able to convert a 2-dimensional design is central.



Part of the teaching programme is a formal research into the costume history of the 20th century.
