Course content

See the vademecum.

Further development of the components as described in B1 and B2. The student is given the opportunity to deepen the working methods in line with his/her own interests, the material or subject introduced by the student will be submitted to the teacher for approval. Nevertheless, in the final evaluation, a balance between the components métier, creativity and pianistic skill will be prioritised.

1. Pianistic skills: realisation of scores and accompaniment; improvisations and métier parts with professional attitude. This means: performance of the played material with a high degree of correctness, within an acceptable tempo, with attention to agogics, continuity, phrasing and sound quality. No great virtuosity is expected here, but an artistic performance within the limits of what can be expected after three years of study, following an evolution from the starting level in B1:

- Playing of existing keyboard music (see representative repertoire list)

- Playing of obligatory song accompaniments in a reduced form: songs by Schumann, Schubert, Beethoven,...

2. Aspect of practical harmony: realisation of simple basso continuo parts (preferably related to own repertoire). This includes the use of triads, 6 and 6/4 chords, 7 and 9 chords (and inversions), simple ornaments 9-8, 7-6 and 4-3.
