Short description

For this class, every participating student is invited to share about a moving encounter with an artwork (theatre, opera, music, concert, film, choreography, graphic design, illustration, fashion silhouette and so on) or another event. The students try to answer two questions. Firstly: which themes and textural qualities (sounds, materials, colors, patterns, rhythms, temporal structure and so on) might have evoked these powerful feelings? Secondly: how did these elements succeed in doing this? In other words: which elements were already present in the student to make him or her vulnerable or suitable for this encounter? Whenever possible and or necessary the discussions will be broadened and put in a larger context by the teacher. The students will be evaluated on the basis of their own presentation and on their weekly contributions to the discussions.
Attendance to each class is compulsory. This is an optional course. Students that cannot attend it, cannot enlist.

Educational organisation (text)

Every student has to give a lecture (before his or her fellow students) about a work of art that has moved him or her. The students tries to discover possible grounds for the emotion evoked by the work of art (in the texture or contents of the discussed work and/or in the past of the student).

Prerequisite competencies (text)

No specific requirements.

Learning outcomes (list)

MA4 - The student sets up and conducts independent research in function of the development of his/her artistic praxis.
The student can analyze and critically approach a work of art and their own projections.
