Short description

The course introduction to ERP covers the following topics:

1. Introduction to EIS (Enterprise Information Systems) and the evolution of ERP.

2. ERP into detail (Relevant Business Processes, their related data and integrated character across functional departments).

3. ERP from a project's perspective: roadmap to succes and pitfalls to avoid.

4. CRM (Customer Relationship Management) applications: an introduction.

5. Critical analysis and evaluation of an academic paper related to the covered material.

Prerequisite competencies (text)

No specific competences are required to enroll in this course. The students need a sufficient understanding of the subject related english (High-Level IT concepts and Business related terms).

Recognizes techniques and tools necessary for the development, planning and implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP).

Sets up an ERP package and adjusts this to the business demands.

Can identify the advantages and disadvantages of ERP packages in relation to the different business processes.

Course content

This course allows the student to gather insights in the instruments, methodologies and techniques, essential for planning, guiding implementation and releasing of a succesful ERP implementation. Different EIS systems are covered and ERP systems in specific, where different relevant Business processes, their related data and integrated character across functional departements are explained.
