Prerequisites

(to be taken together with Central heating and air processes OR previously registered for Central heating and air processes) AND (to be taken together with Thermodynamic applications of Applied thermodynamics OR previously registered for Thermodynamic applications of Applied thermodynamics).
Re-sit exam: is possible.
Possibility of tolerance: This course unit is eligible for tolerance according to the criteria as determined by the degree programme you are enrolled in.

Learning outcomes (list)

The associate reads and interprets electrical, thermodynamic, hydraulic and aerological as well as simple P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) schemes and drawings and consults technical information, also in at least one foreign language.
The student explains, by means of a P&ID, the different practical aeraulic set up methods.
The student explains the different practical hydraulic set up methods using a blueprint.
The associate works in a socially responsible, sustainable and qualitative way and applies safety guidelines and regulations in the domain of HVAC systems.
The student explains, by means of the ISO 16890 norm, how air is filtered in air conditioning installations.
The student knows the most important mechanical and energetic properties of an air group (Eurovent).
The associate advises and informs users, and proposes improvements regarding use and function.
The student explains the block diagram of an air conditioning installation.
The student describes the different parts of an air group.
The studen put together an air group for its specific condition.
The student selects terminal units by means of a software package.
The student explains by means of a P&ID the difference between a VAV-valve (Variable volume control) and a CAV-valve.
The associate maintains his skill level by keeping up-to-date with technological developments and is self-critical.
The student describes the different central and decentral systems.
The student describes the different energy recoverer.
The student can indicate and explain the advantages and disadvantages of various HVAC systems.
The associate performs - independently and under supervision - the installation, activation and adjustment of climatisation systems in the domain of HVAC systems in a residential and non-residential context.
The student justifies recommendatiosn for the design of set up-friendly climate installations.
