Short description

This course aims at developing a fundamental understanding of the importance of risk management in financial institutions, including the applicable national and international regulations.

The focus of this course is both on the theoretical basics in risk & regulation and its practical implications and implementation. For the latter, we will make use of international case studies from the lecturer's own experience and we will invite guest lecturers.

  • Introduction to risk, risk management and regulations;
  • Risk management policy & framework in financial institutions;
  • The compliance function and corporate governance in banking;
  • European and international regulations (AML/CFT, MiFID, Basel, EMIR, ...);
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR);
  • Case studies in risk management & implementation of regulation.
