Student (e)

- can situate digital media within the historical, scientific and artistic context.
- knows the workings of the computer and the specific terminology.
- knows the operating software and the possibilities in terms of available application software.
- has the practical knowledge of the latest and most common software for graphics applications such as vector drawing, pixel-based image manipulation, animation, and image layout.
- understands the principles of moving images and sound can work with a virtual animation of a few seconds - can work on a freelance basis and conceptually simple digital commands.

The student has a thorough knowledge of the most recent and common software for graphic applications.
Depending on the assignment, the student can make a choice from available software and realize an extensive assignment independently.
The student can format or modify images according to their specific purpose, print or virtual use on various media.

Course content

Theoretical part:
Digital manuals for the specific software packages:photoshop / in design /  publishing on tablets

Application:
Study of the software trough didactic exercises supplemented by free assignments with a personal input. Themes: - layout for print and format for digital publications and tablet applications - photo collage and manipulation with emphasis on 3D, perspective and lighting - new media

Within the framework of this course unit, various graphic design instruments and production methods are used. In particular, you will need a laptop with a good display, good processor units and sufficient random access memory and disk space to use current graphics software. The educational environment itself mainly uses Apple computers and can provide additional computing power for design processes that require it. You do not need to purchase a personal laptop prior to class: information about this purchase will be made available at the start of the academic year.
