Learning outcomes (list)

The student can use the screen printing medium within his creative process.
BA4 - The student develops and sharpens his/her critical and investigative attitude towards designs and/or realizations that arise from visual experiments and research, emotion and intuition.
The student knows basic the technical principles (creating digital and manual films, preparing and exposing sieve, making inks and colors, printing) and is able to critically evaluate and apply them.
The student experiments with and examines various drawing and printing / printing materials.
BA6 - The student understands the characteristics of his/her personal designs and/or realizations and is able to communicate about this in an appropriate manner.
The student is able to document, present and articulate his creative process.

Course content

Based on several assignments, the screen printing medium's technical and expressive properties and various artistic qualities are studied and applied. Basic principles of digital and manual film creations and graphic qualities of multiplicity, layering, shape, image, composition, colour and texture are learned through experiment and research. This exercise leads to an autonomous creative process and artistic work that is often discussed in the group. While discussing assignments, students are introduced to the contemporary art field, and a broad frame of reference is provided. A personal sketchbook/portfolio is compiled with research, notes and images.
