Prerequisite competencies (text)

The student knows the possibilities and main characteristics of ceramic clays.
Students know the different construction techniques of the ceramic process.
Students are familiar with the drying and firing process.

Learning outcomes (list)

The student can apply the ceramic process artistically.

Course content

The student models in a ceramic way.

The student practises the basics of composition principles with construction and reproduction techniques in function of his/her own work.

The student develops plasticity, works on the sculptural wall, texture and incidence of light and searches for individuality in the ceramic process.

The student investigates the properties and limitations of types of clay and porcelain. The student studies the influence of the drying and firing process in function of artistic expression.

The basic principles of the ceramic kiln are discussed.
