Course content

The course 'Concept dramaturgy 1' is an introduction to dramaturgy. Dramaturgy is situated between theory and practice. It is a reflection on a text, theme or concept, and how to make this concrete in a scenic practice.

The definition, history and different forms of dramaturgy are presented in introductory lectures. The students are taught different instruments and techniques to do dramaturgical work.

Next, the students make a dramaturgical analysis of various cases. They are encouraged to carry out different forms of research and to translate these into a concrete realization.

The course consists of a combination of lectures and workshops, and a viewing, writing and reading trajectory.

The compulsory study material for 'Concept dramaturgy 1’ will be:

  • Lesson presentations (placed on Digitap by the teacher)
  • Lesson notes (to be made by the student during class)
  • Theoretical and artistic texts (placed on Digitap by the teacher)

In addition, the students have to see some performances. Practical arrangements for this will be made in class.
