The student can situate the stylistic evolutions of music history from ancient times to 1800 within a broad historic context.
The student can give an in-depth explanation of the oeuvre and the historical importance of the important representative figures from ancient times to 1800.
On hearing a work written between ancient times and 1800, the student can place it within a style period and genre.
