Educational organisation (text)

Within the course unit Music Practice, the student will take part in ensembles, productions, masterclasses, projects and/or study trips. This will take place in an ensemble, class or departmental context, and may or may not be in collaboration with external organisations.

The masterclasses and class projects are announced at the start of the academic year. Attendance is compulsory. Participation in the study trips (where applicable) is strongly recommended.

The allocation of students to ensembles and productions is made by the production team in consultation with the instrumental or singing teacher and/or the department co-ordinators. Students nevertheless have the possibility to state a preference for certain projects.

In addition to the course unit Music Practice, the student can take on additional projects or productions through the elective course unit, Music Practice Extension.

For larger projects (especially orchestral projects), the production team will select a team leader for each instrumental group. These students will be asked to help prepare music material and to play a responsible role in the production process.

Participation in certain productions and orchestral positions will be by audition.

Achievement of the learning outcomes of the previous course unit, Music Practice 3.

Learning outcomes (list)

1.1 The student independently broadens and explores repertoire related to his or her discipline.
The student can perform both standard repertoire and less conventional repertoire in a group.

The student can interpret music from various musical stylistic periods.
