Short description

Mediation aims at how to empower cliënts to solve their own conflicts in a proper way. Behalf of a theoretical approach in which the judicial mediation principles are explained in a supranational context, it also offers a methodological frame. The methodological approach consists of three subjets: a critical discussion of the fundamental principles of mediation, a comparison between some mediation models and 'good practices' and last but not least the implementation of the 'common learning' concept by way of rolgames and groups work with support of mediation experts.

You investigate the theory of mediation on the basis of concrete practical experiences.
You present a relevant insight with regard to a mediation practice.
You reflect in groups about the mediation process that you have completed together.
You show insight into the needs of one mediating practice in the Antwerp context.

Course content

Mediation is a methode that is used in different supranational contexts such as social, judicial and deontological. This course consists of theoretical colleges, particle trainings of the mediation skills, intensive contact with professionals in mediation. There are also possibilities to work on a small project are research offered through an organization specialized in mediation. During this course the aims and basic principles of mediation will be discussed and trained. Some guest speakers will explain the strengths and treats of their jobs. Furthermore students will work in a group during three months on a specific mediation topic in close contact with practitioners in the Antwerp region.

Men moet voor alle twee onderdelen samen geslaagd zijn.

Indien men voor een of meerdere van deze onderdelen geslaagd is maar niet voor het totaal, hoeft men enkel het deel opnieuw te doen in de tweede zit waarvoor men niet geslaagd was. De punten zijn niet overdraagbaar naar een volgend jaar.

Tweede examenperiode:
Schriftelijk examen: werkstuk gebaseerd op het logboek met open vragen (70%).
Mondeling examen: presentatie met open vragen (30%).
Examentijd: 20 min.
Voorbereiding: 10 min.

De punten van het schriftelijk of mondeling examen zijn niet overdraagbaar naar een volgend jaar.
