Begincompetenties (tekst)

No specific technical prior knowledge is required to participate in the elective.

On the other hand we expect a broad cultural interest and a committed curiosity for time-based arts.

Admission to the elective course 'Studio Moving Image' is decided after an intake interview. Before this interview you must submit a short project proposal.

PROJECT PROPOSAL

1. Provide a working title

2. Pitch

Describe your project in 3 to 5 sentences

3. Detailed project description

We do not set any rules for the approach to the project description, but try to limit it somewhat to the practical aspects. We'd rather not see you get lost in lyrical outburst. (A4 maximum)

Please note: your proposal is initially a starting point and can evolve throughout the year in consultation with teacher Wim Catrysse.

4. Visual material

Please add visual material, maximum 6 images. The imagery does not necessarily has to refer to moving images. We would prefer to see some of your work, but you may also present reference image material that supports your project. Weblinks to your own videoworks are also possible.

5. deadline file submission: Friday September 30, 2022, 1AM via mail to geertgoiris@gmail.com and wim.catrysse@skynet.be

6. data intake interview: Monday, October 3, 2022

This is an informal conversation, leave stress behind

Leerinhoud

The Studio Moving Image is a trajectory where the personal artistic development of the student is central.
Your self-initiated project is established in dialogue with Wim Catrysse, through constant critical reflection and an experimental, engaged attitude, from concept development to final presentation.

Each student enters the program with a project proposal. The complexity of your moving image project mainly depends on your own ambitions and requirements.
You will get an introduction into some of the basic skills of digital cinematography, including camera know-how, lenses, editing and presentation of video art.

The Studio Moving Image aims to be a laboratory where artistic dialogue between all participants is encouraged. The Studio facilitates - to the extent possible - the production of your time-based art. You can choose to explore a linear narrative structure or an experimental approach to the digital cinema or develop an interdisciplinary project with performative or installation strategies.
