Course content

You work together in multidisciplinary teams (with students from different labs, programmes and possibly foreign students) for two intensive weeks on a case study that is briefed, supervised and assessed by (international) guest lecturers. These conceptual projects are related to the professional background of the guest lecturers, or depart from a central theme. In this setting, you are challenged to think outside traditional constraints and experience the added value of discussions with colleagues, lecturers and guest lecturers.

Before you leave on placement, we coach you one last time in those professional skills that can make a world of difference on the shop floor:

  • project planning, setting goals and deadlines, meetings, reporting, project adjustment, time monitoring and recording...
  • taking on different roles in a multidisciplinary team (where do your strengths lie?)
  • giving constructive feedback in teamwork
  • motivating and managing others
  • trusting team members
  • ...
