Course content

In this one-week course, the master's programme starts with an intensive exchange between the participants and the master team. In the first part of this course, we will introduce the master’s programme in dialogue with each participant’s master’s project. By working collectively with the group and individually through feedback methods, they will construct together a map of concerns, embodied sharing of the master’s project and elaborate their project with a set of questions presented in the master’s form.

In the second part of the course, the teacher-artist will present different methodologies in artistic research and provide tools for the students to share, reflect and present their master project to their peers and the team present. In order to unfold and develop an understanding of the notions ‘artistic research’ and ‘artistic practice’, they will look at existing physical/choreographic practices as well as analytical approaches. From the general perspective in the actual context of society, art and dance, this course will zoom in on each research project of the participants and possible methodologies to develop. Finally, we will ask ourselves how to work together and look into feedback strategies to be a constructive tool within the research.

Discussions, reflections, reading and studio practice will involve creating frameworks and methodologies to acknowledge embodied practice and research aspects within their artistic practice.
