Short description

In Lab V, we challenge you to independently design a media solution that matches your talents and ambitions. This project will be the headliner on the creative portfolio you will soon be applying for!
The Lablectors share their knowledge and inspiration with you during the weekly contact hours on campus; these are also the perfect time to exchange and learn from each other with your fellow students. Besides the scheduled hours in your timetable, extra activities (which will be communicated in class) can also be scheduled such as company visits, briefings at external locations, ... Fine-tune your ideas and realisations with fellow students during the interim presentation and/or submission moments, and blow your audience away during the live final presentation.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Learning outcomes (list)

You will independently define the design challenges arising from your research into a communication issue and thus arrive at a set of requirements and wishes that your media solution will have to meet.
You demonstrate an optimisation flow in your design process and take the initiative to push your design solution to an appropriate technical level.
You demonstrate how, when going through a divergence and convergence phase, together with your knowledge of design principles, you can make well-considered design choices to create a basic prototype.
You use your planning and organisation skills to plan and organise a larger project all by yourself.
You take a live audience through the different steps of your design process during a convincing presentation of your project assignment.

Course content

You demonstrate mastery of your creatieve skills in the field of brand design and go through the different phases of Design Thinking independently when designing your own media solution. You bring and create your own story by understanding the what, for whom and why (Understand), by generating, visualising and designing ideas (Explore), and by testing and implementing (Materialize). At the end, you deliver a final product but also material in which you argue, report and visualise your design choices.
