Short description

For students by students

You not only attend courses but also help to design them. You take an active role in the Student Council (School of Arts Student Council, SAS) or the student club (tbd) and, in doing so, make a personal commitment to your fellow students and the Academy. After all, art education develops in dialogue between students and teachers.

With INPUT/IMPACT you contribute to building a participatory, inclusive culture where every student may feel welcome and helps to shape attractive and relevant education in the Academy.

Course content

You actively participate in the structural consultation of the Student Council, representing the interests of your fellow students and contributing to ideas about current and relevant art education in a society and world in rapid change. You proactively keep track of needs and suggestions that live in the studio, and you inform students about decisions made and ongoing processes. With communication and consultation lines to the various studios, programmes and discussion forums in house, the Student Council is the official, democratically elected representative of the students of the Academy.

The Student Council covers the more formal, policy and education-oriented activities such as the development of an informative navigation platform with QR code for students, info desk Open House, reflection and input for a relevant and up-to-date Visual Arts programme.

The student club hosts all informal activities organised by the students such as parties, events, exhibitions, collaborations, the student publication Hapjes, WAV radio or Every Two Weeks.

You select several activities from the list below, for a total of 5 points, of which at least 2 points come from the participation section.

Participation activities (min. 2)

  • Attend the seasonal meeting of Student Council and Student Club.
  • Hold a management position in the Student Council (2)
  • Participate in the student consultations of the AP Student Policy Office (in Dutch) (1)
  • Participate in the Stuvo Council or SofA Council (in Dutch) (1)
  • Participate in the professionalisation programme offered by AP Student-Focused Services, in which you refine professional skills such as negotiation or leadership (2)
  • Propose and develop initiatives that contribute to relevant arts education and an inclusive campus (2)
  • Participate in thematic consultations in the Academy (1)

Student activities

  • Establish a student club for the Academy (2)
  • Hold a management position in the Student Club (2)
  • Coordinate a specific project of the Student Club (1)
  • Coordinate and implement a self-proposed project with the Student Club (tbd)

1. Mid-term reflection and discussion with the titular teacher based on own analysis and peer feedback.
2. Journal with brief description of your activities and a concluding self-assessment. You frame these with respect to the main ambition, in particular contributing to a participatory, inclusive culture & to shaping attractive and relevant art education. You also indicate how you relate to the learning objectives.
