Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
As a designer, the student possesses the creative capacity that is specific to the profile of contemporary fashion designer.
The student deepens the innovative capacity, experiment and flexibility in the work process
The student masters the basic elements of fashion design in an adequate way: research versus concept versus design
The student can analyze an ethnic costume and elaborate artistically through in-depth research
The student develops through sketches and other visual techniques an interesting collection concept with the application of the previous research
The student can take the different courses; integrate fashion graphics, fashion design, coupe and digital image processing in an adequate and personal way
The student can apply the basic principles of design in a well-founded way (lines, proportion, rhythm, balance, observation of the human body, movement).
The student is able to work out a graphic and 3D realization of a visionary collection image with at least 8 coherent total silhouettes.
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student can apply the basic principles of fashion design
BA3 - The student knows about and understands the social, cultural, artistic, historical and international context of the visual arts and artistic praxis, and continues to develop this knowledge and understanding.

Course content

- research and analysis of the socio-cultural background of a country or people, with a graphic representation of this research. - From a thorough pattern study, development of an ethnic costume - followed by a graphic costume book, with the application of digital image processing - research into a current art movement or artist - development of an innovative collection concept - graphic (sketchbook) and 3D development of an innovative coherent collection, with a personal signature - application of a personal and innovative choice of colours and fabrics - development of a first typical silhouette - realisation of various preliminary studies and toiles - construction of the collection in 3D, min. 8 total silhouettes - development of own make-up and styling - design of accessories, specific to the image of the collection - presentation of this collection on the catwalk, with own music and light proposals and a personal choreography + photo shoot - graphic presentation of the complete image of the collection - installation, referring to the image of the collection as part of the final presentation



During the evaluation of the collection at the “final fitting (pas)” a selection is made by the jury members with regard to the presentation on the catwalk. A different style of presentation can be mutually agreed upon.
