Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student knows the various visual elements.
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student masters the content and technical aspects at an advanced level.
The student masters the most recent and common software for image manipulation at advanced level.
The student masters various digital applications at an advanced level and can decide for himself where and how these applications can be used.
The student can manipulate a digital image and knows terminology that is specific to this technology.
The student is able to fulfill somewhat more complex assignments on an independent basis (in terms of content).
BA5 - When developing his/her personal visual language the students starts from a searching and reflective attitude when developing one's own visual language.
The student has his own visual language at advanced level.
BA6 - The student understands the characteristics of his/her personal designs and/or realizations and is able to communicate about this in an appropriate manner.
The student can grasp the meaning of his (autonomous) work at an advanced level.
BA7 - The student is able to organize his/her artistic project in consultation with others.
The student can complete an assignment within a predetermined timeframe (short and long term).

Course content

The students gain a better understanding of the technological basics of the processing of digital photographic images and the specific terminology to create a professional digital workflow for themselves.
The student learns photographic retouching and manipulation.
The student has an understanding of color theory as a scientific discipline and knows the different color spaces, knows the modern color photographic materials and their processing, knows the evolution of the image quality over the years, is familiar with traditional printing technologies and knows how to edit photos in a right manner in function of the printing process.
There is room for experimentation so that the student can understand the meaning of his autonomous work.
Application: study of the software through didactic exercises, supplemented by free assignments.
