Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student can analyze a subject via the observation and translate it into a painting.
The student can visualize the complexity of a perceived situation (the human figure / portrait / still life / larger subject / landscape)
The student can integrate the previously acquired skills in the field of anatomy, proportions, perspectives, form, composition, color and expression.
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student knows the main properties of the materials he uses more specifically with regard to the application of recently developed materials and mutual combinations of different techniques.

BA5 - When developing his/her personal visual language the students starts from a searching and reflective attitude when developing one's own visual language.

Course content

Assignment:
Through observational work on figure, portrait and landscape, space, form, composition, color, plastic tension and painterly qualities are discussed and integrated into the work process.

Autonomous work:
The student is free to choose the subject and the manner of elaborating his idea according to his own vision and creativity. He acquires more insight into his artistic world. Both the chosen theme (content, concept) as the personal plastic translation will be discussed individually and in group. A more thorough introduction to the profession will be encouraged in the form of joint visits to Antwerp and Brussels Art galleries, various museums and contemporary exhibitions in Belgium and if possible abroad.

Evaluation (text)

Continuous evaluation based on various presentation and control moments during the academic year, concluded with an end evaluation at the end of the academic year.

The assignment and autonomous work each represent 50% of the total figure.
