Short description

Costume drawing is a basic part of the costume design profession: the two-dimensional representation of the idea and the piece to be executed is the basic means of communication within the artistic circle of theater makers. Making 'readable' drawings is crucial here

Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student can work out an assignment through research, planning, documentation, execution and presentation
The student communicates with audiences via visual language. (creation)
The student can process a given assignment personally and plastically.
The student knows and understands the importance of visual communication.
The student can apply the skills acquierd during the academic year to the assignment designs for the chosen theater texts.
The student is able to apply the acquired knowledge and the methodology to analyze dramaturgy dramatics on concrete assignments of the professional field, both as an applied artist and as a free artist.
The student has studied various imaging techniques, ranging from simple drawing and painting techniques to computer techniques, and can process his projects in various ways into a 2-dimensional image.
BA3 - The student knows about and understands the social, cultural, artistic, historical and international context of the visual arts and artistic praxis, and continues to develop this knowledge and understanding.
The student knows and understands the importance of visual communication.

Course content

The student
- learns to represent a costume design two-dimensionally.
- studies the proportions of the human body in order to apply it to a two-dimensional representation of a costume idea.
- studies how various materials are represented in a design.
- evolves from initially rigid designs to both technically elaborate and artistically autonomous designs.
