Short description

In the 3rd bachelor, the student learns to deal with the scenographic phenomenon: the impact of space on the theatrical moment.

The student learns to deal with three-dimensional spatial data; how can you strengthen a performance by intervening in the space, by adding, by omitting. How do you create monumentality, and how do you use lighting to enhance your space

Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student can come up with a fascinating scenography that can also be carried out in practice.
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student is, at beginners level, familiar with the phenomenon of scenography, knows what stage design entails and how costume design relates to this.
The student can make a scenography to scale and can deal with the relation between the small and the large.
BA6 - The student understands the characteristics of his/her personal designs and/or realizations and is able to communicate about this in an appropriate manner.
The student can make a model in which it is clearly indicated how a scenography will be realized in reality
BA7 - The student is able to organize his/her artistic project in consultation with others.
The student knows, at beginners level, the possibilities of contemporary theater technology and the limitations of a small-scale theater and / or a travel performance.

Course content

The student makes a scenographic design for the various imposed pieces during the academic year, building on the knowledge acquired in the introduction and the exercises of the 2nd bachelor.

The student works individually or in groups to develop a scenographic concept together with a personal installation/performance that can be shown publicly in a small theatre space, in order to gain a brief personal experience of the workings of the theatre.
