Learning outcomes (list)

2.1 The student masters the musical parameters and structures.
The student can devise a four-voice setting (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) according to functional tonal harmony rules, in which the bass and soprano parts are given.
The student completes harmony exercises, paying attention to melodic line, progression techniques, modulation from the 1st degree, cadences and choice and functionality of chords.
2.2 The student makes progress through independent study.
The student eliminates specific shortcomings and deficiences by means of the individual assignments.
2.3 The student reads, analyses, writes and interprets music.
The student can recognise chords (root position, sixth chords, cadential 6-4 chords) and can use them functionally.

The Harmony & Counterpoint Subsidiary course pays particular attention to the vertical aspect of writing: recognizing and being able to use all chords functionally.
