The basis is a collective master class, around the performance of a particular work. This is usually preceded by a lecture or presentation by the guest teacher. Guest teachers work in blocks: therefore, students are asked to prepare intensively a repertoire piece from the relevant area. This includes underpinning the knowledge with research around the work or style area covered.
