Short description

In physical awareness, students explore ways to prepare themselves for a sustainable career. The body is the instrument, not only physically but also artistically.
Physical Awareness consists of 3 different modules: LAB, Anatomy of the voice and Condition

In LAB (Physical Artistic Awareness = 30h), one's own relaxed-supportive posture is explored, in addition to discovering the body as an artistic presence in the theatrical space.

In Condition = 30h, students work on strengthening their own bodies under the guidance of a physiotherapist.

In Anatomy of the voice = 5h, students gain an understanding of the anatomical workings of the voice

Prerequisites

previously registered for Physical Awareness 1 (voice).

Learning outcomes (list)

1.1 The student masters the representative repertoire for his or her discipline.
The student gains insight in the anatomy of the voice.
2.2 The student makes progress through independent study.
With stimulation from the teacher, the student can independently put the attainments into daily artistic practice.
2.4 The student masters the correct playing techniques and postures.
The student has control of his or her breathing.
The student has an understanding of relaxation techniques.
The student can maintain a healthy study hygiene.
The student develops further broad consciousness by the means of various movement techniques.
The student acquires a controlled and flexible way of moving and can apply this in the artistic practice context.
The student acquires a good level of fitness and is motivated to maintain this.
The student acquires a good posture and breathing support and can employ these in artistic practice.
The student acquires broad understanding and can apply this in the context of artistic practice.
The student works further on the parameters which are studied in Physical Awareness 1.

Course content

The student is aware of the importance of good physical and mental fitness in building a sustainable career.
The student gains insight and control over:

 his/her own mental resilience and possible coping strategies
 one's own posture and movement
 different movements one can use to warm oneself up before studying 
 different techniques to relax during and after studying
 is aware of the importance of good fitness and posture
 is aware of the importance of mental self-care
 strives for good basic fitness, stamina, strength and flexibility
 strives for a good study-life balance

Evaluation (text)

The student is continuously assessed on motivation, skills, attitude and evolution during the lessons. Class attendance is compulsory; unauthorised absences are therefore deducted from the final result.
