Short description

The objective of this course is to understand the importance and scope of risk management in the financial sector. We will zoom in on Belgian and international laws and regulations.

The emphasis is on both the theory of the field of risk management and the practical consequences and implementation in financial institutions. For this, we make use of some concrete national and international cases to which the lecturer has contributed and by inviting guest speakers where relevant and possible.

  • Introduction to risk, risk management and regulations;
  • Risk management policy & framework in financial institutions;
  • The compliance function and corporate governance in banking;
  • European and international regulations (AML/CFT, MiFID, Basel, EMIR, ...);
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR);
  • Case studies in risk management & implementation of regulation.
