Course content

The Master project will follow the student throughout the whole trajectory of the Master in Dance. Although this is mostly an individual process, the programme has provided tools to support, develop and create the Master project in conversation with mentors, peers and the Master team. The notions, methods and practices shared in the previous modules are implemented into the outcomes proposed by the student.

The Master project course will be guided by different teacher-artist(s) coming from different backgrounds. In the first working period, students will share collectively and individually their Master projects, presenting a first try-out of their outcomes guided by the tutor. At this point in their trajectory, we expect students to present, perform and elaborate their embodied artistic research on both a physical and cognitive level, yet still with time to develop it until the Master Jury. In the final working period, the teacher-artist will guide students individually and collectively for their Master project presentations.

Two showings per year will be organized where first and second year students come together to share and discuss their Master project to peers and Master team. Supervision is provided with internal and external guests.

The Master jury will take place at the end of programme. The individual embodied artistic research carried out throughout the whole trajectory will be evaluated by a panel of internal and external jury members, and it will be presented in 3 outcomes: an oral presentation, where the student will present their research project and have a dialogue with the jury; a research paper, where the student elaborates their research and the theoretical framework that supports the artistic practice and is contextualised and critically reflected upon; and a performative event , where the student presents their embodied artistic research in dialogue with their research questions and research paper. Through these three components, the student demonstrates an embodied knowledge, independent thought, and originality in their accomplishment of competences and learning objectives. A detailed description of this course and the outcomes can be found in the Vademecum.
